About Health and Safety in Farming

Farming has a poor record for accidents and injuries. No two ways about it. It is one of the most dangerous industries in the UK.

My aim with Health and Safety in Farming is to help reduce the accident rate (fatal or otherwise) within farming.

I want to help those in the Farming industry improve their awareness of Health and Safety by creating a site where they can come for information or assistance to improve the safety on their farm for themselves, their family, employees and visitors.

If you have any ideas or suggestions please send me an email via the Contact page.

I grew up on a farm in Northumberland until I was in my early ‘teens (a long time ago!) but have maintained links with farming since then through YFC and family.

I have worked in the forestry industry (which in itself does not have a sparkling safety record!) but within a ‘construction’ context. I have managed operations on large windfarm construction projects thoughout Scotland where Health and Safety is taken very seriously.

To a lot of the forestry people I worked with ‘health and safety’ was something that ‘got in the way’! Many times I have explained that, apart from being ‘the law’, it was there to protect them from harm and help get them home safe.

I want to use that experience gained to help improve the health and safety on your farm. Simple.
